As I was saying..........
...I got up early so I could be there on time. Things didn't exactly go as planned. I mean, the plan was great, but the execution sucked. And we know what 90 percent of this life is, don't we? The WMATA Red Line, the only line serving Washington Union Station was in its usual (so I am told by friendly individuals of the resident population) state of disorder and delay, single tracking for an unknown distance (to me) that included five stations. Being a resourceful person, I took the first train that came in either direction, which train happened to be going the "reverse peak" direction towards Glenmont, to Fort Totten to hook up with the Green or Yellow lines heading towards L'Enfant Plaza. You can take the boy out of New York, you can't take the New York out of the boy. If Columbus could sail west to avoid the land route and go east to Asia (what a man will do for curry, black pepper, and pearls, right?), I could go north to get south.
Have I mentioned that I hate Washington, DC? Probably. I don't hate it as much as I hate the Boston Red Sox, and everything to do with the Boston Red Sox, including the city, but then I hate very few things as much as I hate Boston. Right now, I can't think of anything I hate as much as the Boston Red Sox, except Dick Cheney, Michael Bloomberg, John Boehner, the Koch Brothers, malaria, British Petroleum, and various incarnations of all that is evil, venal, vindictive, and petty. See? It's a short list.
The NTSB is definitely not on that list.
